Uninstalling WorkTop

Uninstalling WorkTop restores your default Windows Desktop, removes context menu integrations, and clears the app from system startup. Your files and custom settings are preserved unless you manually remove them.

How to Uninstall

  1. Open Windows Settings.
  2. Go to Apps > Installed apps.
  3. Locate WorkTop, click the menu icon next to it, and select Uninstall.

(Alternatively, you can uninstall via Control Panel under Programs and Features.)

What Happens to Your Files and Data

During uninstallation, you will be prompted to choose how your files are handled:

  • Default behavior: Your data remains in %USERPROFILE%\.worktop.
  • Desktop restoration: The uninstaller can automatically move your desktop files back to your standard Windows Desktop folder.

Files stored in custom desktop locations remain untouched.

To completely wipe all remaining application data, manually delete the %USERPROFILE%\.worktop folder after uninstalling. Before deleting it, check that the folder no longer contains any desktop files you want to keep.

Deactivating a Pro License

Pro licenses are bound to your machine. Uninstalling the app does not automatically release your license key. To transfer your license to a new computer, deactivate it through your orders page in the LemonSqueezy dashboard.
