This privacy policy describes how WorkTop ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our desktop application and website at worktop.dev (collectively, the "Service"). This policy is available at worktop.dev/privacy.

1. Information We Collect

Payment Information. When you purchase a license, our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy) collects your name, email address, and payment information. You can review their privacy practices at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.

Usage Information. When the application checks for updates, we receive your license tier, operating system version, and application version.

Analytics (Optional). If you agree to telemetry, we collect anonymous usage statistics through PostHog, including a randomly generated identifier, feature usage, and error counts. This identifier is deleted when you uninstall the application. IP addresses are not stored. You can review PostHog's privacy practices at posthog.com/privacy.

Error Reporting (Optional). If you separately agree to share error reporting, we collect sanitized error details to help diagnose issues.

Website Analytics. Our website uses self-hosted Plausible Analytics, which does not use cookies or collect personal information.

Ad Attribution. When you arrive at our website by clicking a Google ad, the URL contains a Google Click ID (gclid) parameter. If you proceed to purchase during the same browsing session, we transmit this identifier together with the order to Google Ads so that the ad campaign can be credited with the conversion. The gclid is not stored on your device, is not linked to your name or email by us, and is not collected for visitors who arrive from other sources.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service (contractual necessity)
  • Check for application updates (legitimate interest)
  • Measure the performance of our advertising (legitimate interest)
  • Improve the Service based on usage patterns, if you agree (consent)
  • Diagnose and fix errors, if you agree (consent)
  • Respond to support inquiries (legitimate interest)

3. How We Share Information

We share information with the following third parties:

  • Lemon Squeezy processes payments on our behalf
  • PostHog (EU) processes optional analytics data and forwards conversion events to Google Ads
  • Google Ads receives conversion events for visitors who arrived via a Google ad, including the gclid, order amount, and order identifier
  • Dreamhost hosts our website and processes support emails

We do not sell your information.

4. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers, including Lemon Squeezy, Google Ads, and Dreamhost, are based in the United States. These providers maintain appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.

5. Data Retention

Analytics data is retained for up to 12 months. Support correspondence is retained as long as necessary to resolve inquiries.

6. Security

We implement reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

You can opt out of telemetry at any time in the application settings.

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
